Abstract
Air Space locations. The dataset contains locations and attributes of Air Space in the Washington Metropolitan Area, created as part of the DC Geographic Information System (DC GIS) for the D.C. Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) and participating D.C. government agencies.
A database provided by the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) identified Air Space guideliines for the DC Metro Area. The data specifically comes from NGA's Digital Aeronautical Flight Information File (DAFIF).
All DC GIS data is stored and exported in Maryland State Plane coordinates NAD 83 meters.
METADATA CONTENT IS IN PROCESS OF VALIDATION AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE.
Purpose
This data is used for the planning and management of Washington, D.C. by local government agencies.

Lineage / Sources
Lineage / Processes | Data from the Digital Aeronautical Flight Information File (DAFIF) was downloaded locally. All files were brought into ArcMap and reprojected to DC Standard Maryland State Plane NAD83. The two features were represented in separate shapefiles. They were merged into one shapefile and all relevant attribute data was maintained. |
