Abstract

SARA Title III Hazardous Material locations (above ground). The dataset contains locations and attributes of Hazardous Materials, created as part of the DC Geographic Information System (DC GIS) for the D.C. Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) and participating D.C. government agencies.

A dataset listing provided by DC FEMS identified above ground Hazardous Material locations. The dataset provides and standardized address generated during geocoding as well as the original source address information. In addition, attibute information also includes points of contact information for each site listing.

All DC GIS data is stored and exported in Maryland State Plane coordinates NAD 83 meters.

METADATA CONTENT IS IN PROCESS OF VALIDATION AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE.

Purpose

This data is used for the planning and management of Washington, D.C. by local government agencies.

Much of the original address information was incorrectly entered and had to be altered in the Standardized Addresses in order to match with a location. The standardized addresses were further altered slightly to match with a location near by. Examples of these situations include: missing street type, misspelling of Massachusetts, and Brookley Ave containing Zeros in Left/Right Address fields.

All original data entry was maintained for reference in the output shapefile.

Horizontal positional accuracy
Most points geocoded to MAR which are placed at the approximate center of building polygons.
